Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope everyone is enjoying these beautiful (and long awaited) warm days. We wish everyone an enjoyable and relaxing spring break. I have a few quick items for you:
RESCHEDULED “We All Belong Walk” The original walk, planned for April 6 was canceled due to weather. The event has been rescheduled for Wednesday, April 26. Because it was rescheduled, the event may conflict with other activities. Students are encouraged to speak with their coach or advisor if they wish to do the walk. We are hoping to have many parent volunteers attend this event to walk with the students. If you are able to help with this event, please report to the front of the school building by 2:10. We will meet with all the parent chaperones before the walk begins to go over the logistics.
Quarter 3 Report Cards. Paper copies were sent home with students in student backpacks today. We encourage all parents to go online and view grades within the Empower Program any time. Quarter Three Honor Roll will be posted on our website by early next week.
Athletic Academic Eligibility. A reminder that in order to be eligible to fully participate in Spring extracurricular activities, including clubs and sports, students will need to have at least 80% of their Quarter 3 work habits scores be at the “Meets” (3) or “Exceeds” (4) level from the previous quarter. If they are not academically eligible, they must complete a weekly checklist, signed by each of their teachers, in order to play in games.
MSAD 75 Budget Process. Every year, the MSAD 75 Board of Directors and Superintendent Brad Smith develop a school budget for the following year. HERE is a presentation on that process. We welcome all parents and community members to attend the Budget Hearing at the Orion on May 25th at 6:30 and the Budget Validation Referendum Vote on June 13th.
Bus Safety. Over the course of the first part of this school year, a group of dedicated school bus drivers has come together and developed a safety team. This safety team has been established to promote safety,well-being and positive behaviors on district school buses. As the school bus is considered a continuation of the classroom, the team has met with school Administrators from each of the five elementary schools and Mt. Ararat Middle School to align their mission with current school practices. It is important to ensure that programs on the school buses follow similar language and understanding of behaviors already being conducted within the classroom to allow for a smooth transition and consistency onto and while riding the school bus. HERE is summary of that work. The bus drivers are hoping parents and teachers can review the safety expectations with their children. Feel free to contact Transportation Director Adam Mayo email@example.com with any questions or follow up.
Frog Dissection! Be sure to ask your child about their experiencing of dissecting frogs in science classes lately. Our students have applying their learning of the following learning goal: “I can use an argument supported by evidence for how the body is a system of interacting subsystems composed of a group of cells.” Above is a picture of some of our 6th graders clearly enjoying their experiences.
8th Grade Parent Volunteers NEEDED! The farewell tradition for the graduating 8th graders is the semi formal. The dance always occurs on the last day of school from 6:00-9:00 pm. In order to make this memorable event happen, we need parent volunteers! The event is designed, organized and executed by the students but they need parental support! We need a couple of parents to oversee the planning and coordination of the event, and we need a group of parents to assist the students in making their dreams of semi formal come true. If you are interested in chairing this event please contact the main office. If you are interested in helping out, but can not chair the committee, please watch for more information!
If any questions, comments, or suggestions arise, please feel free to call the school at 729-2950 or send me an email at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
